NeuStrategy Principals
Theodore Michalke is the managing partner and a co-founder of NeuStrategy, Inc. He is responsible for client development, organizational strategy and industry alliances.
With more than 25 years of strategic business development experience, Mr. Michalke was formerly Senior Vice President Partnership Development at NeuroSource Inc., where he implemented and managed the firm’s national consulting and specialty partnership practices. In addition, he has held key senior management positions at the Chicago Institute of Neurosurgery and Neuroresearch and in consulting practices supporting the healthcare, financial and retail services sectors.
Mr. Michalke publishes and speaks nationally on neuroscience, stroke and spine COE® (center of excellence) development. He is a member of NERVES (Neurosurgery Executives’ Resource Value and Education Society) and holds a Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Architecture and Planning at Ball State University.
Kevin Dunne is a partner and co-founder of NeuStrategy, Inc. He is responsible for national client management, organizational development and NeuStrategy’s portfolio of COE® (center of excellence) survey tools and industry white papers.
Mr. Dunne has had 10 years of management consulting and healthcare specialty services experience. Formerly Director of Consulting at NeuroSource Inc., where he produced the industry’s first Neuroscience COE® Survey – a tool to benchmark organizational infrastructure and stage program progression – he has since help spearhead the introduction of NeuStrategy’s Stroke COE® Survey and Spine COE® Survey. Prior to NeuroSource, Mr. Dunne was an operations analyst at Rush University Medical Center and senior consultant at Alaris Consulting.
Mr. Dunne publishes and speaks nationally on neuroscience, stroke and spine COE development. He holds a Masters of Science in Health Systems Management from Rush University and a Bachelor of Science degree from The University of Notre Dame.
Business Development
Lisa Garvy supports NeuStrategy’s new business development and national accounts relationships. In addition to her responsibility at NeuStrategy, she is also Senior Vice President for SIO Healthcare Advisors.
Formerly, Ms. Garvy was Senior Vice President of Business Development at NeuroSource Inc., as well as, former Vice President at Solucient and Matria Healthcare, Inc. She began her career at Baxter Healthcare.
Ms. Garvy holds a BA in Business Administration from DePaul University.

Clinical Services
With more than 25 years of surgical services development and management experience, Janet Bacher has a wide range of operating room expertise. In addition to her clinical consulting role at NeuStrategy, Ms. Bacher is the clinical coordinator of Same Day Surgery at Mercy Hospital and Medical Center in Chicago.
Ms. Bacher has held neurosurgical services management positions at the Neurologic & Orthopedic Institute of Chicago and at the Chicago Institute of Neurosurgery and Neuroresearch at Columbus Hospital in Chicago. Early her career, she was the area specialist for neurosurgery and vascular surgery at Michael Reese Hospital. Ms. Bacher is a graduate of Michael Reese School of Nursing and holds a BSN from Madonna College in Livonia, Michigan.
Clinical Services
Peggy Deane supports NeuStrategy’s program development and clinical improvement consulting engagements. A seasoned healthcare executive with program development experience at the local, state and national levels, Ms. Deane is the former Senior Vice President for Patient Care Services, AnMed Health, Anderson, South Carolina, where she served on the executive team for 33 years.
Ms. Deane has held teaching positions at Clemson University, Tri-County Technical College and the Greenville Hospital System. She holds a BA from Greenville Hospital School of Nursing/Furman University, an MBA from Washington University and Doctorate of Humanities from Clemson University.
Strategy and Program Development Services
Lynn Hagerman has had more than 25 years experience in healthcare administration and program development focusing on strategic planning, centers of excellence and service-line specialty services development. Ms. Hagerman served as the VP, Planning & Business Development for Evergreen Healthcare, Kirkland, WA, responsible for new multi-specialty surgery center development and physician joint ventures, and Cancer, Orthopedics and Neurological services development. She is the former Asst. VP, Safety and Health Services, for US Fortune 50 firm GTE.
Ms. Hagerman has served in leadership and program development consulting roles across a variety of healthcare settings, including HMOs, small rural hospitals, physician group practices and large tertiary hospital systems. Ms. Hagerman holds a BA from the University of CA, Santa Barbara, and an MPH from the University of CA, Los Angeles.
Strategy and Program Development Services
Debbie Hill brings 25 years of experience in healthcare administration and program development to NeuStrategy. She focuses on strategy, market, and operational development for centers of excellence in neuroscience, spine, stroke, brain tumor and other service line specialty services. As former AVP at Florida Hospital, she led the development of a nationally ranked seven-hospital system neuroscience service with several sub-specialty centers of excellence.
Ms. Hill is an invited speaker nationally on topics related to neuroscience and service line development and performance. She has served on The Joint Commission’s Disease-Specific Care Advisory Council and currently serves on the Board of Directors for the American Heart Association’s Greater Southeast Affiliate and chairs a seven-state Healthcare Quality Improvement Initiatives Committee focusing on Cardiovascular and Stroke Systems of Care. She holds a BS from Rollins College and is completing an MHA at the University of Minnesota.
Clinical Outcomes
With over 17 years of applied leadership experience in a wide range of clinical research activities, including peer-reviewed publications and invited presentations at national meetings, Dr. Ruth Ross is outcomes analysis advisor to NeuStrategy’s center of excellence research and collaborates on survey and product development. In addition to her advisory role at NeuStrategy, she is presently Director, Practice-based Research Network at the NorthShore University HealthSystem in Evanston, Illinois.
Dr. Ross serves as senior advisor at the Health Ethics Trust, Alexandria, Virginia, a division of the Council of Ethical Organizations, and is a board member of Chicago-based Heartland Alliance’s Health Outreach Board. A licensed social worker in the State of Illinois, she holds a PhD and an MA from the School of Social Service Administration at The University of Chicago. Dr. Ross is also a fellow at the Institute of Medicine at Chicago.
Clinical Quality Management
With a 20-year career commitment of improving patient care quality, Dr. Karen Saban is clinical quality management advisor to NeuStrategy center of excellence programs. In addition to her role at NeuStrategy, Dr. Saban is presently an Assistant Professor at Loyola University Chicago and a Postdoctoral Nursing Fellow with the VA, Hines Hospital, where her research focus is on health-related quality of life and neuroscience patient expectations of treatment outcomes.
Dr. Saban earned her doctorate in nursing from Loyola University Chicago. She holds a BSN and MSN in nursing administration also from Loyola University Chicago. |
